On Sunday I went to the Musee d’Orsay for the first time. Located in Paris, the museum is known for its extensive collection of impressionist and post-impressionist masterpieces. During our visit, I immediately noticed and toured the Céline Laguarde exhibit.
What’s happening: My family and I are in France for vacation. It’s also my first visit to Paris.
My takeaways:
- The choice of framing for Céline Laguarde’s prints is quite similar to the style I chose for my Dad’s current exhibit, The OGs: Photographers of the Silver Gelatin Process.
- I liked how whitespace was used to frame her prints
- Every print had a description adjacent to it. My Dad was right, photographs require captions.
Looking ahead: Now I know what it takes, from a framing and captions perspective, for Dad’s work to be featured in a top-tier museum.
